TikTok is downloadable in 155 countries and has 689 million users worldwide. With most users logging on multiple times per day, it’s no wonder more than 1 billion videos are viewed every day on the app. Plus, the number of adult users is growing – in the time span of 18 months, the adult audience grew 5.5 times.

Why does that matter? There are more people than ever logging onto Tiktok, and more opportunities than ever to sell them something from your dropshipping business. There are four primary ways to get sales for your dropshipping business on Tiktok: sharing on your own Tiktok, paid ads, Tiktok influencers, and hashtag challenges.

Creating a branded Tiktok

Plenty of brands have accounts on Tiktok. You might share videos of yourself or your team taking part in Tiktok trends, customer reviews, or promotional content. Be sure to showcase your product in your videos, whether you’re wearing it or explaining its features. Going live is another great way to be seen on Tiktok. However, the app requires at least 1,000 followers in order to go live. Once you’re able to, Tiktok’s algorithm will boost your live stream on people’s For You page. Tiktok also gives preference to people who post often (3x per day is ideal.) People are also more likely to follow if you niche down and create content that is re-watchable (i.e. information-packed, tells a story, or has shock factor.)

Paid ads

There are two forms of ads on Tiktok: in-feed videos and brand takeovers. Just as it sounds, in-feed videos pop up within people’s feeds and can be scrolled past. Brand takeovers usually show up when users first open the app and the ads take up the entire screen. After a few seconds, they become an in-feed video and can be scrolled through. The ads should be full-screen, vertical video with sound. The videos should be anywhere from 5 to 60 seconds. You can choose to target based on events, interests, lookalike audiences, and custom settings.

How Does Dropshipping work?

Tiktok influencers

Like with any other social media platform, TikTok influencers can get your dropshipping products in front of your target market. There are a few ways to find influencers: first, try searching for people sharing content related to your niche. For example, if you sell dog toys, search for TikTok influencers who share videos of their dogs or who run accounts dedicated to only their dog. You’ll want to make sure they are posting videos that share the same values as your brand and you should avoid any influencers who are already promoting your competitors. You may also find influencers by searching on Google for the top TikTok influencers related to your niche. Additionally, you may also look at any influencers you already utilize on other platforms, like Instagram. Do they have a following on TikTok?

Once you’ve made a list of influencers, look into their engagement and ensure they’re someone you want to work with. Remember, large followings don’t necessarily mean people are engaging with the influencer. You can also use tools like Heepsy or agencies that cater to TikTok influencers to aid in your search. Whatever route you choose to go in, be sure to track conversion rates and adjust your campaign as you go.

How to Start an eCommerce Business with Dropshipping?

Hashtag challenges

A branded hashtag challenge encourages users to make videos accepting the challenge. The hashtag will show up in the Discovery section of TikTok. The key with hashtag challenges is to make sure the hashtag includes your brand name. Otherwise, if the hashtag blows up you won’t get any notoriety from it.
